SUSTAINABILITY: Trash-ure
The idea began with our participation in Singapore Stories 2023, where we transformed scrap fabric into a couture kebaya. Inspired by this success, we’ve continued to repurpose our scrap materials into couture creations. This project addresses three key aspects: sustainability by keeping fabric out of landfills, inclusivity by creating more jobs, and innovation in fashion by blending craftsmanship with technology.

The Origami Kebaya
This piece was made for Singapore Stories 2023 with the theme: Kebaya Reimagined. Kebaya is UNESCO intangible cultural heritage. So when I was given this theme, I was thinking what kebaya will be in the future. So my answer to this is first, kebaya that is sustainable. So we utilized our scrap fabrics from our production. And the second idea is Inclusivity, in this AI era where human Labor are being cut off, how can our kebaya provide jobs to many people. So I have an idea of this interlocking pieces, that can be done by anyone without specific skill. We are working with organization to create this collection.
